Environmental Public Facilities

【Questions and Suggestions】

We can see that the government is making efforts to improve public transport systems such as MRT, public transport and public bicycles to facilitate the public to use public transport. The purpose is to reduce the use of vehicles and locomotives to reduce pollution so that the living environment has good air quality . Although there is a good mass transit system, everyone is still accustomed to using cars and locomotives as a means of transport to meet the needs of daily life. Therefore, we think that a shuttle bus should be set up in every corner of the urban area to facilitate public transport to bus stops, MRT stations and train stations. In addition, we should also improve the space and routes for pedestrians and bicycles to reach every corner of the city and enhance the public's willingness to walk and ride bicycles as the main mode of transportation. All these will help to reduce the use of vehicles so that we can create a blueprint for the complete "green public facilities".

Return to the Traffic Environment

In order to reduce pollution while meeting the needs of urban activities, the popularization rate of mass transit vehicles should be increased. The utilization rate of public transportation carriers in Taipei increased from 23.8% in 1985 to 43.8% in 1996. After the completion of the entire Taipei MRT network, the government re-examined the bus network to reduce the number of interchanges and enhance the arrival efficiency and on-time rates of buses. When the mass transit system is complete, the use of private vehicles will be reduced. Not only will air pollution be improved, but also the city will be restored to a people-centered environment.

Zero Pollution Traffic

In the case of long-distance traffic, we use mass transit vehicles to reduce environmental pollution. Traffic in neighborhoods emphasize the safety and comfort of the pedestrian environment and the bicycle environment. Following the completion of the entire MRT network, the public transport utilization rate will be increased and the utilization rate of lanes reduced. The pavement, sidewalk trees and bicycle lane areas can be increased. The streets will be gradually returned to pedestrians, and allow the public to wander around the trees and breathe fresh air. Not only the commercial activities along the streets are active, but also the public's willingness to walk and ride bicycles is increased so that we can move towards a zero-pollution traffic environment.
