A. Why do you want to run "Aquaponics" farm?

Answer: Because founder Li Jiaxuan went to Hawaii to learn the system of a large commercial farm. She wanted to promote it in Taiwan and found that not every family had so much land to do. Therefore, in order to promote the aquaponics, she made the world's smallest aquaponics system. Although it is small but the function has. The lower is the pond. You can see the fish, like tilapia, sturgeon and ornamental fish. The faeces of the fish are pumped through the motor, while the water is supplied to the plants. Plants will absorb the excrement of the fish and filter the clean water down to feed the fish. Therefore, we do not need to change the water for fish, and we do not need to fertilize the vegetables, niether.

B. What is the general acceptance and opinion of aquaponics?

Answer: The general public will feel very novel and interesting. We will let interested people start with a simple home-based system, two boxes, two pipes, a small pumping motor, then first try to cultivate simple and easy-to-grow crops. Wait until more experienced, let them slowly increase the cultivation area and crop types, and they will have sense of accomplishment. So almost everyone would like to do very well, high acceptance.

C. If communities, schools, government agencies and the general public are willing to invest in " aquaponics," how will you plan and assist?

Answer: This year, the Taipei City Government promoted a small garden project, so many school units want to plan aquaponics. In accordance with the school's space, we plan the planting area experiment and provide equipment. At the same time, we promote aquaponics teaching at school. Wait until the school is more experienced and then gradually increase the cultivation area and type of crops so that the schools can conduct their own nature education.

D. Is it not easy to obtain and repair the equipment and equipment of aquaponics?

Answer: To us, it is easy. But to schools, they don’t have experience and have to learn from the start, so we will help schools to do the follow-up management and maintenance.

E. What is the biggest difficulty in operating aquaponics?

Answer: The hardest part is that not many people know what aquaponics is in the begining. Then there is no certification of organic certification in Taiwan for aquaponics water and vegetables. So we can only say vegetables are non-toxic, we can not say vegetables are organic.

F. What expectation do you have for aquaponics?

Answer: We want people to be self-sufficient, so our goal is community-supported farming (CSA). We want every community to have a zero carbon footprint farm, so there is no carbon emissions. Second, our water resources are 10% of traditional soil fertilization, so we can save water. In addition, we do not need a lot of space to grow vegetables. You can do aquaponics on the roof. Our goal is to use less energy and save energy and protect the environment through rainwater recycling devices.
