An Forest Park covers an area of about 26 hectares and was officially opened in 1994. Although it is located in the center of Taipei City, it is an ecological park with dense vegetation. The type of “Common Forest” has become the urban lung of Taipei City. In addition to greenery, the park also plans an ecological pool dedicated to bird inhabitation. It also plans walking and jogging trails, as well as event plazas, public bicycles, open air music stations, children's play areas, gazebos, and rest areas. Facilities provide Taipei citizens a precious green space and the best sports and leisure venues. This time, our team specially visited Daan Forest Park to learn about the various landscape facilities and natural ecology in the park.

Once you enter Daan Forest Park, you can find that the park is very large, which is very valuable for a densely populated city. It looks like you are surrounded by busy roads and high-rise buildings in the urban jungle. The main entrance square in the park is planted with flowers, grasses and foliage plants, combined with bamboo forests to create a distinctive landscape. There is an ecological pool in the park, and trees are planted around the pool and on small islands in the water. The pool is home to white geese, water ducks, fish, etc., and provides places for birds to inhabit. It always attracts tourists to stop by the pool to enjoy the sights. In order to allow visitors to have more knowledge of the birds that appear beside the pool, it is specially established a description card of “bird-watching,” which is detailed the bird characteristics and scientific names in the park.

In addition to green plants in the Daan Forest Park, the Water Resources Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has also installed equipment such as water-saving equipment, water purification plants, and public toilet demonstration systems to remind people of the importance of valuing water resources. In addition, Taipei City, in order to build a “Night City,” worked together with folk-care groups such as the Friends of Daan Forest Park Foundation and the Wilderness Conservation Society to re-innovate fireflies. After a long period of rejuvenation, the fireflies finally reappeared in the park and attracted many people. It is worth mentioning that there are no fearful pigeons and squirrels in this forest park. We tried to approach it less than half a step away from the natural reaction of humans, which made us happy to see this forest park. It is already the best witness for people living in harmony with nature. You don't have to go far to get here. Whether it's taking the MRT, bus or bicycle, you can get to the park soon and it's a trip for the whole family to learn ecological knowledge!

【Reflection】

Faced with the “heat island effect” in Taipei City, which is crowded with exhaust gas pollution and high temperatures, the Daan Forest Park, the lungs of the city, can not only purify the air, regulate the air temperature, but also beautify the environment. The beautiful scenery everywhere can provide visitors with a stroll. In the garden, you can watch the flowers and trees, observe various wild insects, animals and birds, and stop and relax your body and mind. Overall, the ecological beauty of Da-an Forest Park is worth appreciating. You don't need to spend too much time or transportation expenses to enjoy the forest bath. In the future, we hope that Taipei City will have more places like the Daan Forest Park, making the park a part of the city and making the park a leisurely tourist attraction.
