A. Is Taipei currently having sufficient conditions and capacity to promote eco-cities?

Answer: In order to create an eco-city, Taipei City Government has set up a Sustainable Development Committee to promote "Sustainable Urban Environment in Taipei." In order to realize the vision of "Sustainable Taipei Eco-City" and build a world-class capital that takes the environmental symbiosis, the sharing of social security and the wisdom of economic, scientific and technological development into account, Taipei City Government, with 100% determination, integrates the sustainable development thinking of scholars and copes with the priority planning and financial support and overcomes the time and space constraints to achieve the vision of a sustainable Taipei Eco-City.


B. How is Taipei's progress in promoting eco-city?

Answer: First of all, we should plant flowers and trees on both sides of the road to promote green roofs and façades of the buildings in various communities so as to enhance the greenery of the city. Second, pastoral farms are set up in various communities, campuses and parks. In addition, the Tamshui River and the Keelung River will be transformed into a hydrophilic and ecologically-friendly space and the construction of sanitary sewers will be continued. All sewage will be treated and discharged. Lastly, we will continue to establish a complete mass transit system and increase the number of sidewalks and bike lanes. At present, there are many communities in Taipei that have become model "low-carbon communities," all of which are spontaneous acts of community residents. There are also several large public buildings and private buildings that are green buildings that save energy and reduce carbon emissions. The government will also increase the efficiency of incineration and garbage power generation and solar power generation.


C. What are the difficulties you may encounter in planning an eco-city?

Answer: At present, the problems encountered in Vision 2050 are communication. For example, the Urban Development Bureau is planning wetlands and the Parks Bureau is planning wetlands. We need more communication between us. Eco-city is a big project. It requires a higher level of leadership to lead us and take charge of communication. I think it will work smoothly.


D. What part of Taipei's promotion of eco-city is good?

Answer: Ecological Park, because the ecological park is the concept of ecological conservation, human and nature become a symbiotic ecological city. In order to build Taipei into a sponge city, the Eco-Park actively promoted the rain-pigging facilities, of which Guangci Park and Daan Forest Park were completed and the actual use the water to water plants and trees. Therefore, the eco-park not only provides recreation for the citizens, provides space for species to breed, feed and multiply, but also acts as a close outdoor natural learning place for children.


E. Does Taipei City plan to involve the community residents in planning eco-cities?

Answer: Yes. Because eco-cities require the cooperation and participation of all citizens, we invite people to participate and to effectively build eco-cities. At present, the municipal government has set incentives. If citizens come up with some plans and ideas about their own communities, we will send someone to provide assistance and subsidies as long as they pass the review.


F. Will Taipei take care of the preservation of the environment and local culture when planning for an eco-city?

Answer: Sure! Because local culture is part of the eco-city, the city government will prioritize preservation of the culture and monuments in planning eco-cities.
