Establish a Sustainable Ecological City
As the economy develops, the population continues to concentrate in the cities. The result of rapid urbanization has brought about many social problems, such as a surge in population, massive consumption and product use, and a huge and intractable waste problem for the city. The solution is to build more landfills and incinerators to dispose of the rubbish. Whether it is burying or burning garbage, it can cause pollution. Landfills not only release odor, harmful gases and greenhouse gases, and even cause landfill leachate. Once the wastewater infiltrates the ground, it will cause serious pollution to groundwater. Garbage incineration will emit carcinogenic dioxin and other toxic gases, and hurt the health of the human body.
Professor Lin Zhengyi believes that the issue of waste disposal is the most troubling issue in every country today, especially in metropolitan areas where the population is constantly expanding. City people produce a lot of waste, but no place to dispose of. In recent years, there are garbage problems in many densely populated areas and even break out junk wars. One of the solutions to the waste is to set up a new disposal site, but no one wants to live near the landfill. Sanitary landfills, incinerators or disposal of hazardous chemicals have been opposed by residents, so site choosing is already a problem. Although the waste has been largely recycling, the government has to spend a lot of money each year on handling and disposing of the waste.
