Date of Visit: 2017.5.17
Location: Taipei Mucha Garbage Incineration Plant
Staff: Xiao Yi Yun Environmental Education Lecturer

Mucha trash incineration plant located in the suburbs of Taipei, and formally operated on March 28, 1995. Incineration plant uses advanced incineration technology and pollution control technology, which is mainly responsible for handling household waste and general industrial waste in Taipei. A total of six incineration plant processing equipment: 1. Wastewater treatment equipment, 2. Ash treatment equipment, 3. Waste heat utilization equipment, 4. Central automatic control equipment, 5. Waste collection and incineration equipment, 6. Exhaust gas treatment equipment. Incineration plant has the only painted animal chimney in the country. The painted giraffe on the chimney is not only a clear landmark for the vehicles to recognize, but also a representation of protecting the environment and protect animals and plants. It is loved by the public. The Mucha Garbage Incineration Plant was accredited by the Environmental Protection Department's Environmental Education Facility on March 16, 2015. The plant provides diversified teaching, a complete waste disposal process, an environmental education learning route and experiential curriculum, and a wide range of park-like space. It’s a good place for people to learn and relax.

【Reflection】

Giraffe Chimney greet us with a big smile, this is the giraffe's home - Mucha incinerator. First of all, the friendly tour guide briefed us on the work of the incineration plant. After listening to the briefing, let us understand that the original incinerator can not only burn garbage, it can also be used to generate electricity. The electricity can be sold to the Taiwan Power Company, and then the money can be used to better public facilities. These are the world class recycling. Next, the guide took us into the control room of the incinerator, and we saw the accumulation of mountains of garbage. Four small chimneys in the incinerator connected to the four incineration mouth, and the staff carefully trash garbage into the incineration. Everyone can not move their eyes off. Although it is a spectacular picture, wecan not help to feel sad. Now we know we made so much garbage every day. In addition, although we are not far away from the garbage, but there is not much smell, so we can see that the odor control of Mucha incinerators does a good job. Finally, the guides also used study sheets and pasting posters to give us a better idea of how much carbon dioxide is emitted in a year, how many trees are required to absorb, and how incinerators generate electricity. With this visit, we returned home with full knowledge. In every corner of the world, there are other people who are making every effort to protect the environment. We hope that through their efforts, more people will be able to bring environmental protection together.
