【Low-carbon Community】

According to the overall plan of low-carbon sustainable homeland of the Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan, it is developed from a low-carbon community to a low-carbon city and then promoted to a low-carbon home. The core concept of a low-carbon sustainable home is a sustainable environment, sustainable economy and sustainable society. In our opinion, a low-carbon community is an important part of developing into an eco-city. Therefore, our team specially visited the low-carbon demonstration community in Taipei to understand the planning of environmental protection and energy conservation in the community and how to reduce carbon emissions.

【Community Features】

Name of Community: Jing dong Village, Wenshan District, Taipei
Community Population: 7,772

Community Background: The landscape in the scenic area of Jing dong Village is characterized by ups and downs. There is an "Ancestral Rock", an important eco-scenic area. There are a total of 14 hiking trails, of which there are 5 hiking trails. The entire area is about 0.2223 square kilometers. There are about 100 volunteers, of which the largest number of environmental volunteers and eco-friendly residents. Because of the input of community residents, they participate in the various ratings and have good grades. For example, it won the 2010 Green Garden Community Greenery Competition in Urban Garden - second place; won the championship in 2013 and 14 "Performance Evaluation Program for Promoting Resource Recycling" ; Won the model of low carbon in Taipei in 2014.

【Low-carbon Environment】

Ecological Greening

Just entered the Jing dong Village, we immediately see the Ancestral Rock, landscaping landscaping works, green landscaping and green garden street, at the same time, we also saw the residential landscape planting green and fruits and vegetables. At present, the Roads in Jing dong Village are being redeveloped into Champs Elysees to enhance the quality of the surrounding environment and to promote community greening so that people in daily life can get closer to nature. In the future, the environment and area of green landscaping in communities will continue to expand, hoping to reduce energy consumption and urban heat island effect and provide places for wildlife and birds to feed and habitat.

GreenTransport

There are public minibus stops in the community to encourage members of the public to take public transport and to set up electric vehicle charging stations as well as electric cars and bicycles to give priority to parking spaces.

Energy Saving

Public facilities, lamps and lanterns replaced by LED bulbs, energy-saving behavior management, set kitchen waste recycling and recycling stations, solar landscape lights, composting leaves, set up second-hand bookstores for residents to exchange or freely borrow, regular environmental DIY activities, the use of resources recycled products made into handicrafts, both environmental conservation and education demonstrative significance.

【Reflection】

As soon as I entered the community, all kinds of trees and flowers greeted each other. The gentle breeze kept blowing toward us as if to welcome us. Enthusiastic and careful chief of village, after 10 years of hard work planning, transformed the original messy community into a clean and environmentally friendly low-carbon community. Community air is very fresh. There are many small parks that not only allow the elderly to rest and exercise, but also enable children to show their paintings. Most notably, there are happy farms in the community where there is a rain piggy bank with reclaimed rainwater. The usual rainwater is collected in the rain and can be used to irrigate flowers and trees and vegetable gardens. The reason for success is mainly through community volunteering and residents' cooperation in order to turn the community into an environmentally friendly, energy-saving and comfortable "low-carbon community" and become the best example of learning.
