Visit Date: 2017.09.20
Visit Location: Guanghu natural park
Tour Guide: Zhuang Jinqing volunteers

Located at the crossroads of Tamsui River and Keelung River, the "Kuantu Nature Park" is an important migratory bird habitat since ancient times. However, due to the development of the city, the habitat of wetland creatures has been severely damaged, and conservationists have asked the government to set up a reserve. In 1985, the Taipei City Government established the Kuantu Nature Park to preserve the last piece of wetland in Taipei City. During the visit to Kuantu Nature Park, the guide-Zhuang Jinqing volunteer introduced us to the park's environmental facilities, wetlands, flora, fauna and birds. Uncle Zhuang said the park is divided into tourist areas and protected areas. Although the natural park is big, but most are protected areas. In addition to the park to carry out protozoa conservation, improve the environment, but also to introduce visitors to the natural ecology, with educational significance. In addition to preserving native species and improving the environment, the park also introduces visitors to the natural environment.

Wetlands provide migratory bird habitats

There are more than 200 kinds of plants and more than 830 animals in the park.

When I entered the house, I saw a similar gutter. Uncle Chong explained to us that this was the old Takuikeng Creek. It was originally a ditch where rubbish was piled up and drained. Later, it was able to provide biological habitat after rubbish removal and sewage improvement. Now both sides of the stream have been covered with aquatic plants, you can also see turtles and fish and so on. This is the result of ecological rehabilitation. The "main facility area" is the main place for tourists. The area has a natural center a total of two floors: On the first floor is to introduce the development of Guandu region, the characteristics of wetlands, the importance of wetlands for the environment, migratory birds and other routes; the second floor is the viewing platform and the layout of the park pictures of birds, and the most prominent feature is a whole glass walls and bird watching with high magnification telescopes. We can see almost the entire reservation area with it. As the weather is cloudy and rainy, we can’t see many traces of birds.

Use high-power glasses can clearly see the birds.

A considerable number of plants can be seen along the trail, most of which can only be seen in the wetlands. Along the trail, various educational boards have been set up so that visitors can see while watching. Near the wetlands, there are bird watching huts that allow visitors to enjoy and observe the unique waterbird ecology in wetlands without disturbing the life of birds. Finally, Uncle Chu said the park often held a number of activities, such as the Autumn Harvest Parent-child Camp, which children could barefoot together and experience the joy of harvesting paddy rice in the wetlands; the Rana Rhapsody, which you can listen to the frog's voice; Wetland Explorer Activities, which you can live in the park day and night, and have wetland frog installed experience, wetland ecological exploration, night games and other activities.

【Reflection
】

Since the establishment of the "Kuantu Nature Park", habitats have been provided for biodiversity such as fish, birds and plants. Every year, the park attract a large number of migratory birds and become a paradise for birds. So wetland conservation is very important. The preservation and operation of wetlands can show the vitality of urban ecology. It is also an extremely important symbol in the search for sustainable cities and in the harmony between man and nature. Therefore, we hope that there will be more places in Taiwan like the Kuantu Nature Park. Wetlands will become part of the urban area and wetlands will also become places for leisure and recreation.
